ELAINE STEWART - President
Elaine Stewart, a director of Greenock Chamber since 1999, runs Inverclyde-based consultancy, Elaine Stewart Public Relations Ltd (ESPR). With PR experience spanning three decades, Elaine has represented companies across a wide range of market sectors, operating in local, national and international arenas. Elaine worked in Glasgow for 12 years, firstly with a national consultancy, latterly as account director, before joining a communications agency to establish its PR division as managing director. She also freelanced for Scottish daily and local weekly newspapers. Moving the business to Inverclyde, Elaine launched ESPR in 1993 - based at Victoria House, Greenock, since 2000.
DR NICK QUINN – Senior Vice President
Nick is Director of Marketing for Blairs Limited, the UK’s leading manufacturer of bespoke timber windows and doors, and is responsible for the development and direction of strategic and operational marketing activities including planning, strategy, new product development and sales support. Nick has been with Blairs in a number of roles over the last ten years, as well as running his own marketing consultancy for a time. He is a Chartered Marketer, a trustee and Director of Sail Inverclyde Ltd and was also the inaugral Chairman of the Wood Window Alliance
.
BILLY SCOTT - Junior Vice President
Head of Business Development at James Watt College, one of the largest Further Education Institutions in the country. Billy has responsibility for growing commercial business for the College in both domestic and international markets. He was previously Head of School in the College’s Business Faculty, responsible for the development, management and delivery of training programmes and courses in Business and Management.
Billy is also a Director of Business Excellence Ayrshire.
DAVID MORGAN - Treasurer
David Morgan joined Royal Bank of Scotland in 1985 and has served in a number of Branches throughout the West of Scotland. David moved in Greenock in 1991 and carried out a variety of roles during this time. He served as a Business Manager from 1996-2001 and Manager of Commercial Banking from 2001-2006. In 2006 he moved to the Paisley Commercial Team to his current role of Relationship Director, Commercial Banking, supporting businesses in the £1m+ turnover category.
David is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.
JOHN MCDOUGALL
John joined Clydesdale Bank in 1973 and worked in a number of branches throughout Scotland with the final position of Accountant in Port Glasgow. John then joined IBM in 1978 and worked in a number of areas of the business although predominantly Finance before moving into management. He has held numerous management roles in different areas of the business throughout the last 20 years, including key customer support roles for the Nordics, UK and Germany. John has also held most of the Finance Management positions including Financial Planning, Cost Management and European Inventory Manager. John is currently Site Financial Controller.
IAIN McGREGOR
STEVEN WATSON
Steven Watson is the Managing Director of Stepwell an innovative social enterprise company established in 2008 which facilitates transformational change for individuals and businesses. Steven oversees both the charitable and commercial activities of the group which include a cook school, a stress management service, a mobile market and a life skills training programme. Steven is passionate about the development of an entrepreneurial culture which is responsive to the many social challenges within the local area.
ANDREW ASHBY
Andrew is the Site Manager at the T-Mobile contact centre. He transferred to Greenock in 2008 having worked in the South Wales office since 2004 in a variety of management positions focussing mainly on customer retention activity. He graduated from Loughborough University in 1997 having studied Management Sciences and then spent 7 years at British Gas holding various roles across the UK contact centres and head office sales and service functions. Andrew is married and devotes much of his spare time to his wife and three young children.
ANDREW HEMPHILL
Andrew joined Clydeport in 1986, starting his career in King George V Dock and worked in Glasgow for many years, before taking over at Clydeport’s Greenock Ocean Terminal in 2002. Andrew is the General Manager and is responsible for all aspects of running the busy site. Since 2002 Andrew has worked hard to increase the container and forest product volumes handled through the terminal, but has also grown the number and variety of the popular cruise ships calling into Greenock. Recently Andrew has been working on promoting and enhancing the cruise facilities, which has now put Clydeport and Greenock on the map globally as a popular cruise destination, which has been recognized with more and more ships now call into Greenock. This has also saw the increased passenger throughput, which not only helps promote tourism within Inverclyde but also brings benefits to the wider community
LYNN RAYNER
Lynn Rayner was born and attended school in Greenock and has worked in Inverclyde since graduating from Glasgow University with a Bachelor of Law and Diploma in Legal Practice in 1989. She is one of five members of Patten & Prentice LLP an established legal firm in Greenock and has been with them since 2002. She deals with commercial and residential property, housing association work and wills and executries. Prior to joining Patten & Prentice she was a partner with another legal firm in Inverclyde working both in Greenock and Port Glasgow for fourteen years. Lynn is married with two children and enjoys horse riding, skiing and tennis.
KENNY CAMPBELL
Kenny Campbell is a director of Synergy Civil Engineering Ltd based in Victoria House, Greenock. Kenny started Synergy in 2006 along with his business partner Richard Alexander. Kenny and Richard are both Civil Engineers with more than 25 years’ experience working in the construction industry. With Synergy, they have had the opportunity to build on there own knowledge and reputation within the industry to place the company as a major player within its field. Kenny was previously a director with another local civil engineering contractor and also represents Greenock Chamber on the steering group for the Inverclyde Construction Forum. Synergy, which has successfully won contracts in Inverclyde, is keen to remain active within the area.
SUSAN KING
Susan Kingis aDirector ofBEP Signs, theWest of Scotland'sleading manufacturer of bespoke signsand exhibitions.Susan has been in the sign and exhibition industry for more than 20 years in a number of roles from working on the shop floor to finallyowning her own company. Thanks to her progressive approach to business, BEP is opening new offices in Glasgow and Ayrshire. At BEP, Susan is responsible for marketing, new product development, sales, out sourcing competitive suppliers and the business accounts. Outside of work Susan enjoys the outdoor life and travelling.
DONALD J McRAE - Immediate Past President
Finance Director of National Semiconductor (UK) Ltd and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountantsof Scotland. Donald joined National in 1986 as the Finance Manager and was promoted to his current position in 1989. As well as being responsible for Finance, Donald also has the Information Systems, Procurement and Stores organisations at the plant reporting to him. Donald is also Chairman of National’s UKpension fund. Before joining National, Donald worked for KPMG in its London, The Hague and Glasgowoffices, where his main focus was in audit, accounting and tax. In his spare time Donald is the treasurer of a local church and enjoys everything Scottish, from whisky, playing and listening to the pipes and travelling all over Europe with the Tartan Army.
HUGH BUNTEN – Executive Administrator
Prior to joining Greenock Chamber of Commerce in 2000 Hugh's career was in banking.
