high percentage of public sector employees in Inverclyde

A spokesperson for Greenock Chamber of Commerce said: “While we are aware there is a current imbalance in Inverclyde, with a high percentage of people employed in the public sector, at the very least that means there is a significant number in work.

“Working together with the private sector, the public sector is doing all it can to redress the balance by creating employment opportunities, especially through their partnership efforts with the urban regeneration company, Riverside Inverclyde. For one, we warmly welcome the news that more than 1700 jobs are expected to be created in the coming years thanks to the exciting waterfront revamp at James Watt Dock.”
